Description
Heavy industry was always the lifeblood of railways in the North East. In this great new programme there’s plenty of nostalgic everyday freight action including coal traffic around Sunderland, Hartlepool, and North Blyth. There also are lots of 9Fs and Q6s in action on Iron ore and coal from Tyne Dock to Consett. Passenger services are not forgotten either, there’s steam hauled traffic around York, on the Scarborough to Hull line and Pickering to Whitby. Long closed secondary routes featured include Alnmouth to Alnwick, and Alne to Easingwold. All told this is another feast of genuine British Railways working steam with another informative script from Neil Wooler and authentic sound from the Peter Handford collection -no wonder Steam World Archive is the definitive series for yesterdays railway scene.
