Description
This volume features classes 24, 25, 33, 44, 45, 46, and 47. Built initially in Switzerland and later under licence at Barrow in Furness, Sulzer power units have been at the heart of the British diesel fleet since its inception and are still ongoing in the ubiquitous class 47. Many examples survive in preservation, many of which are featured in this programme, both on private lines and eking out their final days on the mainline.
