Description
The most pleasant way to explore the coast from Lancaster to Carlisle is using the scenic line via Barrow and Whitehaven.
The route allows unrivalled views of the attractive Cumbrian coast and wonderful glimpses of the famous fells and the rolling pastures of the Solway Plain and Furness Peninsula.
After crossing the head of Morecambe bay on Arnside viaduct the line clings mostly to the Cumbrian coast through many areas of outstanding natural beauty.
Leaving Barrow, trains continue north along the coast before eventually passing through Whitehaven and Workington before turning inland to Carlisle.
In this brand new DVD we take a close look at all types of operations from local passenger, steam and diesel charter trains, as well as freight flows from Sellafield, Dalston and Workington Docks. There’s also time to visit two contrasting signal boxes at Carnforth and Foxfield.
