Description

Originally produced in 1985 Railfilms is delighted to announce the re release of this popular film on DVD.

With family ties going back to Midland Railway days, enthusiast Paddy Smith can claim to be a lifelong follower of the age of steam and the LMS railway in particular. Paddy was the proud owner of LMS 5407 a class 5 locomotive seen in this 1985 programme at its home base of Steamtown Carnforth.

We follow 5407 through the Carnforth workshops through preparation and painting prior to her second season operating between Fort William and Mallaig during 1985.
The opportunity is taken to experience the thrill of the footplate with driver and fireman and to see the loco blending into typically dramatic West Highland scenery.
Whilst Paddy tells of the pleasure and rewards in owning and running a mainline locomotive, pictures bring back those nostalgic memories of the days of steam.

Produced originally in 16mm film the programme lasts for 44 minutes.
